"While floating motionless in deep waters the nervous system oscillates between calling for attention and resigning to a profound calm. Invisible Touch by VOSP (formerly Soft Target) produces that very effect. This recording is a spacious exploration of granular sound and texture. Sea or space, both vast, both unplumbed, both provide respite from the pull of gravity. In the floating world that VOSP created is an interstellar river which cascades hail or steel slag along the sides of the listener’s head. Warm modulations turned cold and discontinuous - muting and fading to conjure sonic awareness of what constantly lurks."

Reserve Matinee visits the East Coast to drop an excellent tape by a friend we are proud to support. Kicking off our 2019 Summer, the thick and dense 'Invisible Touch' by VOSP will rock your brain in more than one way.
Eric Grieshaber is a Providence-based artist who has also played as Soft Target, and is a member of the band Pool. The collection of tracks given to us on Invisible Touch show his strong ear for texture in a synthesis context, the slow-budding "Starlight" leading off the album. Grieshaber establishes the pace and palette from which he will paint from. "Memory of Apex" introduces and wields classic tape music manipulation techniques, with piercing synth overlaid.
The disorienting & trippy standout "Neural Lace" worms its way into our entire listening space, where Eric's synthesizer "solo" jam is one to remember for our ripped minds over at the RM HQ. Truly mental music. The closer "Piss On Money" reveals a more cosmic side of VOSP - sending us far into lunar orbit, and straight to the core spirit of these recordings.
