Reserve Matinee is ecstatic to present our first release for Norman W. Long's eXU-9 project.

From the artist:

“Space Cadet”, an epithet constantly hurled at me in middle school for my different way of learning and getting lost in my thoughts to an Afro-Futurist affirmation. The purpose of bullying and its violence is to separate one from their community, their humanity. The album cover is an altered picture of my 6th Grade portrait replacing my face and hair with our solar system. The healing tones and harsh noise offers a meditation on freedom, resilience, expansion, universal consciousness and openness. eXU-9 is a machine. eXU-9 connects me to the universe. This is an act of self care and an acknowledgement that we are so much more that the labels, limitations and violence done to us. A great musician and a friend of mine Angel Bat Dawid says, “We are stars!”
