Reserve Matinee is excited to share 'Linx', a split album between Midwestern artists Noxroy and Forest Management.
The split begins with Noxroy's sidelong track 'Rice'. Based in Madison, Wisconsin, Noxroy is Andy Fitzpatrick - guitarist and synthesist in Bon Iver, and a member of Volcano Choir and All Tiny Creatures. His compositions have a way of enveloping the listener in an auditory pool, alien constructs in constant movement. An arsenal of instrumentation and sound can be heard throughout the piece, though these are clearly the brushstrokes of Fitzpatrick's hand, blurring the lines between source and result.
RM co-head Forest Management's side is spread out over three tracks, both "Time Progressions" and "I-90" baked in saturated sunlight as they slowly unfurl from the center. Made from processed recordings of an acoustic guitar, "Across The Way" closes out the split, brightening with each second until the music's origin peeks through.

This compilation is quite lovely - a sprawling set of soothing tones and lush sounds from one of the best musicians working in ambient drone at the moment. Soft yet dense, the sound design here is perfect. Don't miss this one. alec critten
